Brandon Maahs’s music has been heard internationally as a young composer. At just 17, his Symphony No. 1 was performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra as part of their Texas Young Composers series. His piece dreamcatcher for multi-percussion solo is becoming a go-to for college musicians around the world, and his soundtrack for the YouTube series RealLifeLore has garnered millions of listens. Other premieres and performances include the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Nautilus Brass, the Alkyona Quartet, the University of North Texas, the University of Southern Alabama and the Royal College of Music. In 2023 he had the privilege of scoring Michelle Steffes' For When You Get Lost, which won the audience award for Comedy Vanguard at the Austin Film Festival. Maahs’s music was reviewed as “[having] a number of compelling features, including thoughtful string orchestration… and the most thunderous ending of the evening” by NewMusicBox in 2012.
